CPA Laban Molonko

Laban Molonko, is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Trustee of Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA). Before joining UFAA, Molonko served as Chief Finance Officer at Access Bank Kenya, where he led mergers, digital transformation, and growth strategies.

Molonko has over 20 years of work experience in finance, corporate governance, and strategy, spanning banking, healthcare, manufacturing, and regulatory sectors.  His expertise spans financial management surveillance and risk oversight. He has held senior leadership positions at East African Portland Cement Ltd., The Nairobi Hospital, Central Bank of Kenya, and Access Bank (K) Limited. In his previous tenure, he demonstrated a strong track record in policy formulation, stakeholder management, and institutional transformation.

Molonko holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Nairobi, an MA in Counselling Psychology from Daystar University, and a BA in Economics (First Class Honours) from Kenyatta University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Finance at Daystar University. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and a member of the Kenya Association of Psychologists.

Ag. Manager, Compliance

CPA Gideon M. Nzioki

CPA Gideon M. Nzioki  is the Ag. Manager Compliance.

He is responsible for overseeing compliance by holders by ensuring receipts of unclaimed financial assets in the Unclaimed Financial Asset Trust fund Account at the Central Bank of Kenya and  investment of received funds \and investment of funds.

He holds a Bachelors Degree  in Business Administration – Accounting and Finance and currently Pursuing Masters of Science in Accounting and Finance . He also holds  a CPA-K and a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

He has over 19 years of experience in the Public Sector where he has held several responsibilities in Internal Audit, Risk management, Forensic Audits, Compliance audits and project Audits.

Gideon  previously served as a Senior Auditor – Holders heading the compliance section at UFAA . He also served as the  Head of Internal Audit at Media Council of Kenya, Project Auditor at Tana Waters Services Board and  Assistant Internal Auditor at The National Treasury.

Ag. Manager, Research Strategy & Planning

David K. Masai

Mr. Masai is a strategic leader with over 15-years of expertise in Policy, Strategy, Research, Business and Products Development fields; and his overall exposure cuts across several sectors including Development Finance, Microfinance, Capital Raising, Logistics, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (Manufacturing) and Unclaimed Financial Assets.

Mr. Masai holds an MBA degree in Strategic Management from Moi University, a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from the United States International University-Africa, a Diploma in Project Management (Upper Credit) from Kenya Institute of Management, certificates in Monitoring and Evaluation Professional from Kenya Institute of Management, and a Research Methodology Certificate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. He is a certified Change Management Professional from Acuity Institute, USA; he completed his certification in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Transformation in Government from the University of Oxford, UK; and a Master of Science in International Relations (Msc.IR) finalist from the Technical University of Kenya.

Mr. Masai has attended Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), Senior Management Course (SMC) and Performance Management Systems Course (PMS) at Kenya School of Government. Besides, he trained in Leadership, Community Development and Civil Rights at the Study U.S Institutes (SUSI) Leaders, University of Arkansas, USA. He is an ABLI Fellow (2019).

Mr Masai is a member of Kenya Association for Public Administration and Management (KAPAM); and Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) as well as an Associate Member at the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM, Kenya).

Mr. Masai previously served as Manager- Enterprise Development at Rafiki Microfinance Bank; and Head, Strategy and Business Development at Industrial Development Bank prior to joining the Authority.

Manager, Procurement

Jack Gumboh, PhD

Dr. Jack Gumboh has over 13 years’ working experience in various industries. He has previously worked for ABSA Kenya, Essar Telekom Kenya Ltd., and Diamond Trust Bank, among others. Dr. Gumboh holds a Doctorate degree in Supply Chain Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master of Science degree in Procurement and Logistics from JKUAT, and a professional diploma from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies. He is also a Certified Professional Coach (Career Transitions Coach). He is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), CIPS, KISM, and a certified procurement practitioner.

Ag. Manager, Corporate Communication & Stakeholders

Paul Muya, PhD

Paul has vast experience in the area of strategic communication and stakeholder relations spanning 16 years in both the private and public sectors. He is a published researcher and a trainer.

Paul holds a PhD (Communication) degree from Daystar University, an MBA (Strategic Management) degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Technology from Maseno University. He hold a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), as well as the Senior Management Course (SMC) from the Kenya School of Government. He has also attended several other trainings both locally and internationally.

He is a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) and a Certified Public Relations Analyst.

Manager, Audit & Risk

CPA Pius Kimutai, CISA

Pius is responsible for the provision of independent and objective assurance to the Board and Management that Risk Management, Governance, and Internal Control Processes are working effectively and efficiently and supports the strategic goals and objectives of the Authority. In addition, Pius provides advisory services to the Board and Management aimed at improving and enhancing enterprise risk management framework and internal controls.

He was instrumental in the establishment, operationalization and overall leadership of the Internal Audit and Risk department.

Pius holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) degree and a Bachelor of Education (Business Studies & Economics) degree, both from The University of Nairobi.

Pius is also a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA).

Other certifications include Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) from Kenya School of Government and certificate in The Trustee Development Program Kenya (TDPK) from Kenya College of Insurance.

He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

Pius has attended numerous professional training courses in Audit, Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance both locally and internationally.

Pius has over twenty years of progressive experience in Audit, Banking, Finance and Accounting with a clear understanding of Internal Audits, Risk Management, Financial and accounting processes.

Manager, Legal Services & Corporation Secretary

David is responsible for the legal, governance, and corporation secretarial functions of the Authority. He is admitted to practice law in Kenya and is a Certified Public Secretary. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Moi University, a postgraduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law, and a Master of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. David also holds a Master of Laws Degree from Robert Gordon University, Scotland.

As a legal and corporate governance professional with over 20 years of experience, he has held senior management roles in the private and public sectors in Kenya.

He is a Member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London & Kenya).

Ag. Manager, Fin. & Acc

CPA Leonard Langat

CPA Langat is responsible for managing the Authority’s financial operations and ensuring that there is efficient utilization of financial resources within established policies of the Authority. He is also responsible for financial accounting and reporting, cash and bank operations and tax management.

He holds MBA (Finance) degree from Kenyatta University and a Bachelor’s degree (Fnance and Banking) from Moi university. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

CPA Langat has over 20 years of experience in financial planning and strategy, reporting, grant management, risk & compliance management, investment management, treasury management and budget management in both public and private sector.

Ag. Manager, ICT

Eric Mwaniki

Eric is a seasoned ICT professional with a wealth of experience in leading and managing technology-driven initiatives that support organizational growth, service delivery, and operational efficiency. He possesses deep expertise in ICT infrastructure management, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, project management, and team leadership, with a strong focus on aligning technology solutions to strategic business objectives.

He is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and execution of ICT infrastructure, as well as the automation and digitization of the Authority’s systems, ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and regulatory compliance.

Eric holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSc. ITM) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems from London Metropolitan University. He also holds professional certifications including PRINCE2 Project Management, and a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), as well as the Senior Management Course (SMC) from the Kenya School of Government.

He is a Fellow Member of the Computer Society of Kenya (CSK) and the National Quality Institute (NQI), reflecting his commitment to professional excellence, governance, and continuous improvement in the ICT domain.
